What To Do With Empty Essential Oil Bottles

So you’ve run out of your favorite essential oil and have an empty bottle laying around. Now what?

Believe it or not but there is still a lot more you can do with an “empty” bottle before it’s truly all gone!

o   Remove the reducer and fill partway with Chaé Organics Brain and Body Boost to dilute and get every last drop!

o   Place the empty bottle in a jar of Epsom salts and leave for a day to let the salts absorb the scent of the oil. Add to your bath! (Avoid oils such as cinnamon)

o   Have an empty bottle of Tea Tree or Birch Essential Oil? Place the bottle in a jar of baking soda and leave for a day. Use the infused baking soda to deodorize stinky shoes!

o   Have a bottle of a citrus essential oil like Lemon, Lime, Orange, or Grapefruit? Refresh your refrigerator! Remove the reducer, fill the bottle ¾ full with baking soda, recap and shake. Place the open bottle in the fridge where it won’t tip over. This small refresher will last a few days to a week.

o   When the oil is truly used up, remove the cap and reducer and boil to clean and sanitize. To remove the label and any sticky residue use Chaé Organics Lemon or Grapefruit Essential Oils and scrub the bottle. Rinse.

o   Make your own blends! Add single oils to the bottle to create your own blend and top off with Chaé Organics Brain and Body Boost. Pop reducer back in and replace the cap or buy roller ball tops for a 15 ml bottle or 5 ml size bottle.

  •   Print your own labels to identify the blend and what single oils are in it!

o   Add a spray top to an empty cleaned bottle and make your own Essential Oil Sprays!

  •   Sleepy Thyme Pillow Spray – In a 15 ml bottle, add 1 drop each of Thyme and Elemi essential oil. Top with distilled water add a pinch of Epsom salt and put on the spray top. Gently shake to combine and before lightly spraying pillowcase. Let dry and enjoy a deeper, more peaceful sleep!
  •   Room Spray – add 2-3 drops of your favorite essential oil and top with vodka. Put on spray top and gently shake to combine and again before use.
  •   Ouchie Spray – Fill a 15 ml bottle with Chaé Organics Brain and Body Boost. Add the following essential oils: 3 drops Lavender, 3 drops Frankincense, 3 drops tea tree, 2 drops Helichrysum. Put on spray top and shake to mix. To use: clean scrape or cut and then spray onto affected area. If needed, cover with bandage.

o    DIY Perfume – Fill a 15 ml bottle ¾ full with vodka and add 8 drops of your favorite oil or a combination of singles to create a scent. Replace the reducer and lid or put on a spray top before shaking well to combine. Leave in a cool dark place for several days to let the scent develop. The alcohol scent will fade allowing the essential oils to come through. *avoid spraying directly onto skin, especially before going into the sunlight.
