For many of us keeping our sanity during the holiday season can be a struggle. Between the parties, dinners, gift buying, school and so much more we can lost the holiday spirit and become overwhelmed! If the holiday season is starting to stress you out, take a deep breath and try the tips below.
Connect with Yourself
Take a moment to check on yourself and reflect of the feelings you are experiencing. It helps us to stay present and process any emotions we need to address. Take a few moments to journal or meditate. A small break may be just what you need for a mental reset.
It is easy to fall into the trap of saying yes to every invite during the holiday season. This can leave you drained and overwhelmed by social obligations. Think about what your priorities are and what is most important to YOU. Is your family important? Set time aside for your family that is just your dedicated time to enjoy their company and family traditions. Is helping others your top priority? Volunteer at a soup kitchen or shelter! Make sure that you do the things that are fulfilling to you!
Put Down the Phone/Step Away from the Computer
Do you get sucked into the toxic habit of comparing your life to the perfect lives showcased on social media? During the holiday season we see photo after photo of perfect holiday feasts, gifts, decorations, and so much more. We need to remind ourselves to stop scrolling and to live our own lives! Even if your cookies aren’t Pinterest perfect or your tree is a little bit more Charlie Brown than Rockefeller Center, your best effort is absolutely perfect for you! Remember that those snapshots are most likely the staged 4th attempt to get the perfect shot! So, unplug and hug the ones you love!
Celebrate the Good
When we celebrate and exercise gratitude, the more we see it. Take a moment everyday to see the good. Did something good happen in your day/ Did you notice the beauty of something in nature? Did you take the time to reflect on something you love about yourself?

Take the time to diffuse some essential oils to address your current mood or to set the one you want. Essential oils are amazing and can help to calm or enhance a mood. Feeling stressed? Diffuse a few drops of Bergamot, Frankincense, and Lavender. Need a pick me up? Diffuse Blood Orange, Peppermint, and Lime. You can use different oils to increase your energy, calm down, get focused, and be more present.
