This week is National Hand Washing Awareness Week!
Hand washing is easy to do and it’s one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of many types of infections and illnesses. From your home and workplace to child care facilities and hospitals, you can pick up germs everywhere. Clean hands can stop germs from spreading from one person to another and throughout an entire community.
When should you wash your hands? •Before, during, and after preparing food •Before eating food •Before and after caring for someone who is sick •Before and after treating a cut or wound •After using the toilet •After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet •After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing •After touching an animal, animal feed, or animal waste •After touching garbage
What is the right way to wash your hands? •Wet your hands with clean running water (warm or cold) and apply soap. •Rub your hands together to make a lather and scrub them well; be sure to scrub the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails. •Continue rubbing your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice or say your ABCs. •Rinse your hands well under running water. •Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry.
Avoid using hot air dryers as research has shown that they spread bacteria from the environment to your freshly washed hands at alarming rates!
Use Chaé Organics Wild Ginger Hand Wash! Most hand washes contain detergents that strip the oils from the skin right along with the dirt. TIP: Try using an amount of hand wash the size of a bean, versus the typical size of a quarter to wash your hands. You’ll need less hand wash than you think! Washing hands with soap and water is the best way to reduce the number of germs on them. If soap and water are not available, use Chaé Organics Sanitiz! It is ideal for treating broken, irritated skin, sanitizing hands (all skin areas) as well as disinfecting hard surfaces as well. Chaé Organics Sanitiz-On-The-Go is perfect for throwing in your purse or car for sanitizing on the run!
To sanitize hands:
Generously mist hands, under nails, etc. Allow to dry completely.
To sanitize other areas:
Spray to saturate counter tops, work areas, baby changing areas, restrooms, hotel rooms, etc. Allow to dry completely.
Always wash your hands to keep yourself and those around you healthy! Spread the word about better hygiene practices, not germs!
