DAY 1 – Ventilate
Open a window! No seriously, go open a window to help ventilate your home. Did you know that the air quality INSIDE your some can be up to 100 times more polluted than the air outside? The air is filled with toxins that off gas from our flooring, paint, furniture, and cleaning products. These chemicals get trapped in the walls, air systems, and every porous surface of your home! Opening the windows is an easy and inexpensive way to start your ToxicFree® journey.
Some other suggestions for detoxing the air in your home:
Attic, Stove Exhaust and Bathrooms Fans: If you have an attic with a fan, turn it on while the windows are open to circulate in fresh air. Use the stove exhaust and bathroom fans on a regular basis to help circulate the air inside your home.
Change the filters: Change the filters for your vacuum, air conditioning, and heating system regularly and if possible, choose HEPA filters.
Clean top to bottom: Vacuum, dust and mop on a regular basis starting at the top of a room and working your way down.
Adopt a “No Shoe” Policy: Remove shoes at the door to prevent tracking in dirt and pollutants from outside, or get a heavy-duty mat to wipe your shoes before coming inside.
Purchase an air purifying system: After all that hard work, an air purifying system will help maintain a healthier indoor air quality.
DAY 2 – Buy an Indoor Plant
The bedroom is a great place for a plant! Did you know we spend up to 1/3 or more of our lives in the bedroom? Other rooms to consider putting a plant in are the kitchen, living room, home office, or children’s playroom. Here are some of the top indoor plants recommended to help improve the air quality inside your home.
